New partnership aims to promote responsible collecting, transparency, education, and long-term sustainability across the trading card community
WENTZVILLE, Mo. - PrAtlas -- The Certified Trading Card Association, Inc. (CTCA) is proud to announce a new strategic partnership with Collectors MD to launch the Healthy Hobby initiative, a collaborative effort focused on promoting responsible, more sustainable participation in the trading card hobby.
As the only 501(c)(6) nonprofit trade association dedicated exclusively to the trading card industry, CTCA was created to unite, support, and elevate the businesses and people shaping the hobby. Through advocacy, education, transparency, and industry leadership, CTCA is working to help make collecting safer, smarter, and more enjoyable for everyone involved.
Collectors MD brings an important and timely perspective to that mission. Founded as a support-based movement for individuals navigating the emotional, financial, and psychological impact of compulsive collecting, Collectors MD exists to support, protect, and empower collectors through peer support, education, accountability, and advocacy.
Together, CTCA and Collectors MD are launching Healthy Hobby to help address some of the most pressing challenges facing the modern hobby, including compulsive spending, hobby burnout, unhealthy break culture, lack of transparency, and the need for stronger consumer awareness. The initiative will focus on practical education, responsible engagement, and open dialogue that supports both collectors and the long-term health of the industry.

What the Healthy Hobby Initiative Will Support
"A healthy hobby is a stronger hobby," said Nick Jarman, CEO of CTCA. "This partnership reflects our belief that protecting the future of collecting means being willing to address both the opportunities and the challenges in front of us. By working with Collectors MD, we can help bring more awareness, more education, and more accountability to the hobby in a way that supports collectors, businesses, and the broader community."
"Collectors MD was built on the belief that collecting should be meaningful, not manipulative," said Alyx Effron, Founder of Collectors MD. "Partnering with CTCA on Healthy Hobby gives us an opportunity to expand that message and work alongside an organization committed to transparency, advocacy, and a better future for the industry. Together, we hope to create real momentum around healthier habits, stronger safeguards, and a more intentional hobby culture."
