LAS VEGAS - PrAtlas -- Department of Homeland Security awards training contract to Cyber World Institute
Las Vegas NV, OCTOBER 14, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Cyber World Institute (CWI), a Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB), announced today the award of a $2.55 million contract by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to operate the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Cyber Defense Skilling Academy (CDSA). CISA's mission is to lead the national effort to protect and enhance the resilience of the nation's physical and cyber infrastructure. As the Nation's risk advisor, CISA has determined addressing the shortage of cybersecurity workforce is critically important.
CISA has declared action is needed now to attract more people to cybersecurity careers, expand the skills of cybersecurity professionals and ensure the continued growth of the cybersecurity pipeline for the future. The CDSA is missioned to provide entry-level training preparing candidates for a federal cybersecurity career.

DHS used a Two-Phase evaluation process. Phase 1 was an advisory down-select based on Factor 1 – Experience, Staffing, and Approach Questions. Phase 2 was based on Factor 2 – Syllabus Review. For each phase the government assigned a confidence rating after a thorough vetting of submissions.
"CWI is pleased in the confidence DHS has shown in our abilities as evidenced by the award of this contract," said Linda Montgomery, CWI President. "CWI will deliver high-quality competency-based training to meet the rigorous standards of CISA." Montgomery adds, "Our nation's IT infrastructure is under constant threat of attack-our best defense is a skilled competent cybersecurity workforce. This cybersecurity training will prepare graduates to actively participate in this defense and have a multiplier impact by their influence on co-workers."
This program delivers the hands-on training, assessments, and quantifiable outcomes to successfully reskill and upskill federal employees to perform the critical cyber defense roles necessary to keep our country safe.
