Global thought leader in cyber threat intelligence to share insights and guidance with community focused on healthcare critical infrastructure
AMSTERDAM - PrAtlas -- EclecticIQ, a leading global threat intelligence, hunting and response technology provider, has joined the Health-ISAC (Health Information Sharing and Analysis Center) Navigator™ Program. As a Navigator partner, the company will share its unique cybersecurity insights and guidance with the Health-ISAC community of healthcare and public healthcare critical infrastructure owners and operators. The goal of EclecticIQ's cooperation with Health-ISAC is to help members derive more value from cyber intelligence provided by the community, combine it with other intelligence sources, and integrate it with their security controls.
Jay Zimmet, Chief Revenue Officer for EclecticIQ, stated, "Our cooperation with Health-ISAC comes at a critical time for healthcare security in Europe, North America and other regions. In France, two hospitals were hit with ransomware attacks in a single week in February 2021. In Ireland, a massive ransomware attack by the Conti Group shut down most of the country's hospitals. As a leading provider of analyst-centric threat intelligence solutions, we stand ready to help the Health-ISAC community better understand the strategic, tactical, and operational aspects of cyberthreats and how to defend against them."

Errol Weiss, Chief Technology Officer for Health-ISAC, said, "We are very pleased to welcome EclecticIQ as a Navigator and look forward to their valuable contributions to our community. EclecticIQ's deep expertise in cyberthreat intelligence will help our members increase their ability to leverage threat intelligence and take advantage of an intelligence-led cybersecurity approach."
The Health-ISAC Navigator program is comprised of solution providers in the cybersecurity space that provide education and knowledge resources to H-ISAC's global membership.
Rising threats to healthcare
Cyberthreat intelligence is an essential resource in addressing key trends that are impacting healthcare security. These trends include an overall surge in cyberattacks on healthcare organizations in the last two months of 2020, particularly in Central Europe, where attacks rose by 145 percent overall and by 220 percent in Germany. Another trend is an increase in the number and complexity of ransomware attacks and the rise of ransomware cartels that pool resources, tactics and profits.
Ransomware is often combined with data breaches; in fact, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, healthcare is the most targeted sector for data breaches. One reason is the high price that stolen protected health information (PHI) can command. A 2018 Trustwave Global Security Report found that while a Social Security number might sell for pennies on the Dark Web, the healthcare record for an individual would sell for an average of $250.15.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated healthcare security risks. For instance, opportunistic cybercriminals have pivoted to attacks on critical infrastructure of vaccine makers and distributors.
