"These new bingo cards were designed to bring active learning into science lessons," said a spokesperson for BCF, the educational content developer behind the project. "By combining play with key science ideas, the cards help young students build curiosity and confidence while giving teachers a simple, effective way to reinforce learning across different settings."
Independent research supports the effectiveness of this approach.
A 2024 meta-analysis in Frontiers in Psychology found that "game-based learning has a moderate to large effect on cognitive, social, emotional, motivation, and engagement outcomes" (Hamari et al., 2024).
In another peer-reviewed study, students who participated in bingo-based learning "attained significantly superior average scores in their final exams compared to students who did not partake in bingo" (Al-Shalchi, 2024).
Similarly, a controlled classroom trial using a Bingo instructional strategy found that the experimental group achieved mean post-test scores of 14.07 versus 6.61 for the control group, demonstrating a meaningful improvement in academic performance (Olanrewaju, 2021).

Studies in early science education echo these findings: primary students taught through educational games showed significantly higher understanding of scientific concepts than those taught through traditional lessons (Al-Tarawneh, 2015).
